People who have changed the world

Dato Ruby Khong
Dato 'Ruby Khong, who was on the list of Heroes of Philanthropy Forbes Asia in 2010, is by itself make the mainstream of charity. As the driving force behind Kechara Soup Kitchen, a foundation that aims to feed and provide medical assistance to the homeless in Malaysia, which actually began his journey like any other fashionable lady, decked Chanel feet to head.

When she met his spiritual guide in India, His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, Dato 'Ruby had in his sunnies, shirt, jeans, handbag, wallet and shoes - all from Chanel. "My spiritual guide was skillful. He told me," You should not spend money on this and that ", have said goodbye!" Says Dato 'Ruby of his first encounter with the man who stood in the way to where it is today. Being the youngest of three sisters, Dato 'Ruby was very close to her mother and shares the same admirable qualities, which has been transmitted to their children. "Growing up, my parents had many problems, and my mother kept everything to herself. She was stronger than me wife and my sisters up too. My mother taught me how should grow or behave," says Dato 'Ruby. "It is for thecharacter of my mother that I have become what I am."

A mother of three children herself, Dato 'Ruby speaks of them with unbridled pride. "Elena, 28 years, my firstborn, and share a very special bond. She is very sensitive to tuning and feelings. As they say, the firstborn will always be the baby of the family, no matter how old they are" he says cheerfully about his eldest daughter. "Elisa, 27, on the other hand, is gregarious. She is a very kind person, and Clifford, 26, my son, is a robot with a mind," he laughs, explaining, "He is tremendously disciplined, well organized , and does not like to see people suffer. "

"My mother has always seen me as another sentient being. Because of this, we are able to have open conversations, as she sees me as more than your child," says Pastor Elena Khong, which is on its way to becoming a nun. "When I was 14, he told me that if I knew then what you know now, she would never have had children I was dumbfounded until she elaborates. - She said she loves us but having kids meant I spent 18 years focusing all their time , energy and resources on a few individuals. If she had spent the same amount of time and childless, she could have focused on and changed the lives of perhaps thousands of people. I know some may sound harsh to them, maybe even extreme but I chose to view it differently. Then I realized how much capacity of my mother has to love. it was then I decided not to have children, which made my decision to become a much easier nun. but over the years, has been very tolerant of my crazy ideas. I've gone from wanting to be a pilot, a Navy SEAL (canceled quickly when I realized it has to be American), an environmental activist, a politician, a marine biologist. At each step of the way, she never once told me I was crazy. Instead, materials would be in my way or send their experiences to help learn more about this path. For example, when I wanted to be a marine biologist, the next family vacation to Australia, where all the activities we did and every hotel we stayed in was something about dolphins. "

The influence of Dato 'Ruby on their children is inspiring. It's all about giving and helping those around them. When he asked Clifford only thing that would change the course of history, his response was, "to stop the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, an incredible man who could have continued to do so much more." His words are a true reflection of the way her mother raised her children in an incredible positive way.

His second daughter, Elisa, share the same exuberant laughter as his mother and a pure love to give. He is currently the director of corporate communications and Kechara Soup Kitchen Kechara Rainforest Retreat, which supports the development of conscious individuals through universal programs that inculcate positive values. "We must look for opportunities to give to others who live on less than ourselves Kechara Soup Kitchen offers the same opportunity and has given me the privilege of practicing generosity, caring for others, and most importantly, balance -. For see that all are equally worthy of my love and care, regardless of their classification in society ".

Everyone and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Dato 'Ruby would agree that their positivity and joy inspire all those around him to make a difference in the world. As Clearly, Dato 'Ruby and once said the late Mother Teresa, "Sometimes we think that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of not being loved, loved, and loved it is the greatest poverty." his family are well on their way to making the world a better way.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad

Malaysias development has improved leaps and bounds in the last 55 years of independence. With our short history, we were given the privilege to be under the command of 5 previous Prime Ministers. Now sky scrapers proudly graze our skies, with our planes touching down at our own Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Malaysians are also gifted with an education system that has contributed a significant impact on our citizens. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad played an important role in improving Malaysia status and image to both the citizens and foreigners. He was an individual who had a visionary mind and was someone who was always trying to improve Malaysia for its citizen.
Tun Dr Mahathir was famous for his visionary mind that had no limit. One of the main reasons he was a good leader and adored by his people was his innovative ideas on improving the lives of the Malaysian people. Vision 2020 was a thirty-year plan of the steps needed to be taken by Malaysians to ensure the rapid development of the country that was stemmed by none other than Tun Dr Mahathir himself. According to him, in order for Malaysians to proceed towards its goals, the citizens of Malaysia were to face nine challenges. Not only that, Vision 2020 was also used to establish a single, united Malaysian nation that would unite our multi-racial citizens. With Vision 2020, Tun Dr Mahathir also develop a plan to build a symbol for the nation by constructing the Worlds tallest building. The creation of the Petronas Twin towers started on 1992 and was completed in 1997. The Petronas Twin Towers came to be the tallest from 1997 until 2003. With his ties with Petronas, Tun Dr Mahathir urged Petronas to reach out abroad to secure future petroleum supplies.
During his time, Tun Dr Mahathir also reached out to improve the development of the science and technology sector in Malaysia. He had previously said that he did not want Malaysia to be left behind in the new IT-based industries and business.(Tun Dr Mahathir, 2002) Thus, a Japanese business consultant, Kenichi Ohmae had helped him to understand the rapidly unfolding developments of the science and technology sector. As a result, Tun Dr Mahathir had decided to build Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) situated at Cyberjaya. According to Tun Dr Mahathir (2011), the range of industries using information and conducting research on information-based technology and its applications, together with various other businesses based on information technology and telecommunications, would be located. Moreover, science and technology has been emphasized in the Vision 2020. Malaysians have to start innovating and developing on our own, not just be passive recipients and consumers according to Tun Dr Mahathir, 2011. Additionally, we have to stand alongside other creative nations and be leaders in scientific discovery and technological innovation. (Mahathir, 2011, p.500)
Last but not least, Tun Dr Mahathir had also greatly contributed to the Malaysian education system. He had managed to introduce Science and Mathematics to be taught in English (PPSMI) for students from primary schools until secondary school. Even though this program did not pan out as planned, but it still had managed to leave a remarkable value on the importance of learning English to Malaysian citizens. It also had manage to open the eyes of teenagers of the important role of English has in the field of science and technology. According to Tun Dr Mahathir, science in particular changes and advances rapidly. That is why good command in English would assist greatly on Malaysians to keep up with the rapid development. Moreover, most area of modern life applies knowledge using the English language. In addition, Tun Dr Mahathir wants everyone to study in one type of school so he makes Government National Secondary School as well-equipped and attractive.
In a nutshell, Tun Dr Mahathir has proven himself as a worthy leader. With his visionary mind and brilliant ideas he played an important role in improving the science and technology sector in Malaysia. He was also responsible in improving our education system. Through the years, Tun Dr Mahathir is now remembered most for his achievement on making Malaysia better place through Vision 2020, which has become not only his dream but a dream for the whole nation.
